Rick Gerard is a practising falconer and dog trainer and has been for 32 years, working along the way with not only some pretty special animals, from the worlds largest Eagle to one of the worlds smallest falcons, but also many VIP’s including members of our own Royal Family and stars from the music and film industry.
His work is documented by the Durrell Institute for Conservation and ecology, as well as featuring in an RSPCA commissioned report into the welfare and propagation of captive birds of prey, Rick is also a published author.
Having trained over 20 species of Falcons, 12 species of Eagles, 6 species of Hawks, 8 Species of vultures and the occasional buzzard, Rick has an un-paralleled knowledge of the psychology of birds of prey from which spans his understanding of how to make other animals receptive to training .
His working dogs are testament to this, German Wirehaired Pointers, German Short Haired Pointers, English Pointers, Springer Spaniels and Cocker Spaniels have all worked along side Rick and many other falconers have benefitted from having their dogs trained by him.
Rick currently flys a Bald Eagle and works a German Wire Haired Pointer, Cocker Spaniel and a Jack Russell
Needless to say we are happy to have him on-board to offer a different, yet proven, approach to really getting the best out of your dog in the field.
